ARX INTRODUCTION
ARX Arts Centre is a network of arts organisations. ARX and its member organisations work with art education for children and young people in the area.
The members of ARX network include Hippalot Children's Art Festival, Miniteatteri (Theatre for children and young people), AIMO School for Arts and Crafts, INTO Handicrafts Centre, Sibelius Music School, Hämeenlinna City Library, School for Creative Writing, Häme Polytechnic, Department of Crafts and Recreation, Hämeenlinna City Theatre, Digital Arts Education -project, Hämeenlinna Art Museum, Hämeenlinna Centre for Dance and Movement and ARX
Circus School.
ARX Arts Centre has it's own building in the area of Verkatehdas Arts Factory, which offers location in unique international centre of culture with modern equipments and spaces. ARX building includes a gallery, two theatre spaces, lobby and space for internet access. AIMO Arts School for children, AIMO Crafts School and INTO Crafts Centre as well as Digital Arts Education-project are located in the same building.
ARX produces workshops and other activities in visual and performing arts to help easy access to arts for every child, young person and family with children in Häme region; for example: seminars and workshops, annual arts festivals City Energy (for young people and International Children´s Arts festival Hippalot), K9 (a passport which gives free access to arts organisations for young people), ARX Circus School, ARX-campus Project with schools, Art for Day Care Project and Gallery ARX.
ARX also runs ARX-commission - a steering group for children aged 8-18 and ARX-campus - a project where schools and art organisations work together to create new forms of art education. For young musicians ARX offers "Koeajo" - "Testdrive" - a project in which ARX helps and encourages young people to organise small events and concerts by themselves.
ARX is a coordinator of a Finnish network Taikalamppu (Aladdin's Lamp), of arts centres for children. Network is funded by the Ministry of Education. ARX Centre is also a network of local arts organisations (member organisations work with art education for children and young people). Even though ARX has been founded only 3 years ago, it can from the above indicate proficiency both in content and in project organisation.
